Completed application and all supporting documents must be submitted to Newman University by May 15, 2019.

Other Application Requirements

You must submit a typed essay about your desire to be a Catholic educator.

You must provide recommendation letters from teacher and principal.

Newman University will contact student in early May if selected for an on-campus interview.

About Sister Thomasine Stoecklein

Sister Thomasine was born in 1923 to Joseph and Clara Stoecklein in Bazine, Kansas. Her parents christened her Edna, and she decided at age sixteen to enter the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. . By 1942 she completed her high school studies at St. John’s Academy; she attended Sacred Heart Junior College and completed her BS in education in 1953. She also studied at St. Louis University where she earned a MS in education in 1960. She taught at Sacred Heart Academy from 1957 to 1959. In 1961 she returned to the campus and was assigned to the education department at the College. She actually estimated that she helped prepare over 800 teachers for service. She worked at Newman in a variety of roles till her retirement from the university in 2011. Currently, Sister Thomasine lives in the Adorers’ Caritas Center.
